Offers and Images on Facebook

5 Mar

Just recently I have been noticing offers on Facebook.  Usually they will offer a chance to win when you “like” their page.  It sounds like a great way to promote your page and create a larger audience.  I was not going to spend $25 to create an offer at this time so instead I am just posting my offer.  I want to create an offer on Facbook to increase our “likes” by 20 - 25 people in the next five days.  In addition to that I am also going to post 3 images to create at least one conversation in hopes that is will assist in drawing a larger audience on our facebook page.

This week I am learning with my companies hockey training facebook page, FHIT Players. Since I wasn’t purchasing an ad I just posted my offer.  The offer stated this, “Like” this page before 5pm on Sunday and have a chance to win 2 free ID Hockey credits ($100 value).  This was posted on Friday afternoon and we did not gain 1 like in that time frame.  I have a few thoughts on why this is and a few things I want to improve and try again next week.  My first thought on why this didn’t work is that we created a post to attract more likes and the only people that see our post are people that already like our page.  With that being said that doesn’t mean that someone who likes our page isn’t going to let their friends know about the deal and have them like us as well.  I am not sure why that didn’t take place but it could be because we have a small following right now or the timing of the post.  Maybe more people are active on facebook during the week than the weekend?  Next week I am going to look at other social media outlets to help promote our facebook.  Maybe I will send a mass email asking our customers to like our page or present an offer that way.  Then I will be reaching people who have not already liked our page but are interested in our company.

Spring Class Schedule

In addition to the offer I also wanted to post 3 different images to create conversation.  I have noticed that the interactive business pages have large audiences and since that is our initial goal I thought I would start interacting.  Again, I am using our FHIT Players facebook page to create conversation with our customers.  The first image was a spring schedule for some individual hockey classes.  This post did not receive any comments.  It did have a few likes but all the likes were from our employee’s, which isn’t a bad thing.  I thought this would be a good image to create conversation in hopes that someone would ask a question about the schedule.  The second image I posted was a picture of the staff.  Again, this did not get any comments but it did get some likes from our employees. For my 3rd image I decided to add a question with my image.  My thought was maybe I can get someone to answer the question and create a conversation from there. I posted an action picture of a former student and asked this questions, who is your favorite FHIT coach/trainer? But still nothing from our audience.

I think we need to work on connecting with our current customers on facebook and letting them know we are there.  I think that the poeple who “like” us now do not use the program anymore or are our employees.  If I follow through and look for other media outlets to direct customers to our facebook through offers, it will help create the right audience.

We will be discussing Facebook marketing in class this coming week Rachel. From that discussion I suspect you will find the answers to your difficulties. :)
